Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her debut EP Pho. This was the moment that she gained recognition. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the web, including her own launched single Bound. On July 21 2015 Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time, wanted to have her work on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21st, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening act. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks with EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music clip was released, followed by a music video September. She released her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. The 13th of November, she released two more singles called One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole in the Creed II sound track on November 16. The music video premiered on February 20, 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within the first time, it was viewed more than 3 million views. In December 2018 the singer was a part of The From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
